Taking a stringent action, the Supreme Court has directed Delhi Police Commissioner to take neccessary steps for imposition of ₹10 lakhs cost on PIL Petitioner who challenged CJI Dipak Misra appointment in 2017 with liberty to seize his immovable properties in Delhi.
The Bench comprising of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice J.B. Pardiwala noted that as per the report of the District and Sessions Judge, Cuttack, the SP has returned back the bailable warrant of arrest on the ground that the detailed address of petitioner was not mentioned.
The petitioner- Mukesh Jain, in an additional affidavit filed had provided his extra address.
"The Commissioner shall do so immediately and file a status report of compliance thereafter within a period of three months."
