NIA Special Court Lucknow, UP convicted and sentenced 02 accused persons in the case RC01/2018/NIA-LKW.
The case relates to seizure of FICN by STF UP on 24.08.2018 having total face value of Rs. 4,60,000/- (Rupees Four Lakhs Sixty Thousand) from the possession of 04 accused persons. The case was initially registered by PS Hasanganj, Lucknow UP vide FIR No. 482/2018 dated 24.08.2018 and was re-registered by NIA on 18.09.2018.
Investigation had established that the consignment of said FICN, recovered from the 04 accused persons was sourced from Bangladesh through a complex network of FICN traffickers and couriers.
After thorough investigation, NIA had filed 04 Charge sheets against 6 arrested accused and 01 absconding accused on 20.11.2018, 28.08.2019, 18.05.2020 and 07.01.2022. Earlier, 04 accused persons were convicted in this case on 23.03.2021 & 06.04.2021.
The details of two accused convicted today are given as below. i) Abdul Salam @ Mithun S/o Manirul Miyan R/o Neechu Tola, PS- Kaliachak, District- Malda, West Bengal to Rigorous Imprisonment for 3 years 3 months u/s 489B of IPC read with 120B of IPC with fine Rs. 5000/- and Rigorous Imprisonment for 3 years u/s 489C of IPC read with 120B of IPC with fine Rs. 5000/-. ii) Jiyaul Haq S/o Badal Shaikh, R/o Village-Mohabbatpur, PS-Kaliachak, District- Malda, West Bengal to Rigorous Imprisonment for 3 years 3 months u/s 489B of IPC read with 120B of IPC with fine Rs. 5000/- and Rigorous Imprisonment for 3 years u/s 489C of IPC read with 120B of IPC with fine Rs. 5000/-.
