On Friday, a Kerala High Court bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran refused to entertain the submission by the state seeking 2 months’ time to comply with the order to remove banners and flags on pedestrian rails & medians, as the chief minister’s permission was necessary.
The Court said that the request of the Govt pleader can't find favour because, the advocate general has already unequivocally affirmed that no boards/banners/flags or such other can be permitted on the pedestrians’ rails, centre medians or traffic islands.
The HC said that all that the revenue secretary must do so is to issue a clarificatory circular & “does not require to seek the permission of the CM because, it has already been informed to this Court that the intent of the meeting chaired by him earlier, was to abide by the directions of this Court.”
The Court adjourned the matter to July 7 & said that the interim order of June 2 should be complied with, failing which, the authority authorized to issue it, shall appear before the Court to explain why it cannot be done.
