CBI Court grants Rigorous Imprisonment to three accused of NICL and EPFO in separate CBI cases

The Special Judge, CBI cases, Jaipur  (Rajasthan)  has sentenced Sh. Rakesh Sharma then Branch Manager, NICL, Sikar (Rajasthan) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1.5 lakh and Sh. Bhagwati Charan Verma, then Senior Assistant, NICL, Sikar to undergo three years RI with fine of Rs. 2.5 lakh in a CBI case.

 CBI had registered a case on complaint from NICL, Jaipur against Sh. Rakesh Sharma, then Branch Manager & Sh. Bhagwati Charan Verma, then Senior Assistant, both working in NICL, Sikar (Rajasthan). It was alleged that Shri Rakesh Sharma and Shri Bhagwati Charan Verma entered into conspiracy during the period August 2008 to March 2012, with the intention of fraudulently misappropriating different amounts of insurance premium collected on behalf of NICL from different customers, by manipulating the entries in the collection register as well as bank accounts and misappropriated Rs. 1.09 Crore (approx).

 After investigation, a chargesheet was filed before the Special Court, Jaipur on 13.12.2013. During the trial, prosecution has examined 32 witnesses. The Trial Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.

 In another case, the Special Judge, CBI cases, Jaipur (Rajasthan) has convicted Sh. Manoj Kumar Tarani, then Social Security Assistant in EPFO, Jaipur and sentenced him to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. One lakh in a bribery case.

 CBI had registered a case on 07.09.2017 on complaint against the accused. It was alleged that Sh. Manoj Kumar Tarani, then Social Security Assistant, Regional Office, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Jyoti Nagar, Jaipur (Rajasthan) had demanded bribe of Rs. 14,000/- for making correction in the personal details of PF accounts of Complainant and 06 other employees of M/s Vijay Store. A trap was laid and the accused was arrested while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 14,000/- from the Complainant. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed in the court of Special Judge, Jaipur. Charges were framed against the accused on 20.09.2018.

 The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
