The former Mumbai top cop, who had accused the then Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption, has alleged that he was framed in criminal cases.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted protection from arrest to former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in criminal cases lodged against him in Maharashtra and sought responses from the state government, its Director General of Police (DGP) and the CBI on his plea.
Singh, who had accused the then Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption, has alleged frame up in criminal cases.
According to Times of India, through his lawyer Singh told the apex court, “I am very much in the country but hiding as I face threat to my life.”
He further stated that he is ready to appear before the CBI within 48 hours. Besides seeking protection from coercive steps, Singh has sought CBI probe into the entire issue involving him.
A bench comprising Justices S.K. Kaul and M.M. Sundresh issued notices to the Maharashtra government, its DGP Sanjay Pande and the CBI on Singh’s plea.
“Issue notice. Returnable on December 6. In the meantime, the petitioner shall join the investigation and shall not be arrested,” the bench ordered.
The court has agreed to hear Singh’s plea and issued notice to Maharashtra government and CBI The next hearing has been scheduled for December 6.
The court also expressed concern over the ongoing conflict between Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Param Bir Singh and said “we do find the picture very disturbing.” They also said that the matter is becoming “curiouser and curiouser”
