The nine newly appointed Supreme Court Judges will take Oath of Office today i.e. 31st August. The Chief Justice of India Shri Justice N V Ramana will administer the Oath of Office to the nine Judge Designates at 10.30 am on Tuesday, the 31st of August, 2021 in a ceremony to be held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court's Additional Building Complex.
The nine Judge designates are:
1. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka
2. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vikram Nath
3. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari
4. Hon’ble Ms. Justice Hima Kohli
5. Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Bangalore Venkataramiah Nagarathna
6. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Chudalayil Thevan Ravikumar
7. Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.M. Sundresh
8. Hon’ble Ms. Justice Bela Madhurya Trivedi and
9. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Pamidighantam Sri Narsimha
The press release issued by the Public Relations Office of the Supreme court states that,
“This is for the first time in the history of the Supreme Court of India when nine judges will be taking the Oath of Office in one go.”
The venue of the ceremony is shifted to the auditorium. This is done keeping in view the need for strict adherence to COVID norms. Traditionally, Oath to the new Judges is administered in Court Room No.1 which is presided over by Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India. The Oath Ceremony will be telecast live on DD News and DD India. A live webcast of the ceremony will also be available on the home page of the official web portal of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India i.e., https://www.sci.gov.in/. The webcast can also be accessed at https://webcast.gov.in/scindia.
