Justice DY Chandrachud
On Tuesday, while hearing a case listed for August this year, Supreme Court Judge, Justice DY Chandrachud expressed hope of vaccination of all and commencement of Physical Hearings in Courts.
Justice Chandrachud, Chairman of the Supreme Court E-Committee, had earlier expressed that virtual hearings were not meant to replace physical hearings in an event held in April this year.
During the hearing, the Counsel in the case said,
"Let us pray to God that physical hearing takes place by August."
Quikly replying to this, Justice Chandrachud added:
Let us pray to God that vaccination takes place for all. Then we can commence physical hearing."
Justice Chandrachud heads the Bench that is presently hearing the suo motu matter on issues arising out of COVID-19 management across the country.
During yesterday's hearing, he tore into Centre's Dual Policy for Vaccination and raised series of question while same time establishing that the Court isn't framing or changing policies but it has strong arm to come down on the matter.
Justice Chandrachud also made a sarcastic remark when he pointed on reporting of a News Channel about dead bodies being dumped into river and asked, has there been any 'sedition charge' on them yet.
