The Karnataka government
has announced 14 days lockdown across the State starting from 9 pm
today, to break the chain of Covid 19 transmission in the State. The
lockdown will be in force till 6 am on 12th of next month. Only
essential shops would be open from 6 am to 10 am for the next two
weeks. Announcing this yesterday in Bengaluru, after the cabinet
meeting, Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa said that public road transport
including bus,auto and taxis in the State and metro trains in Bengaluru
would not operate for the next 14 days. All cinema halls ,shopping
malls, gymnasiums, sports complexes, stadia, swimming pools,
entertainment parks, clubs, bars and auditoriums will remain closed.
Marriages will be allowed with 50 people and funerals with 5 people
following strict covid -19 protocols. Except the manufacturing and
construction sector, all other sectors including the garment industry
would remain closed. All agriculture related activities will be allowed
in rural areas. Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Aswath
Narayana has announced that all the Engineering and Diploma exams have
been postponed due to the lockdown and the new dates will be announced
later.
