New Delhi: There is currently
no solution between the central government and agitating farmers
regarding agricultural laws. The farmers are determined that the first
three laws should be withdrawn, then there should be some further talk,
on the other hand, the government is intent on implementing these laws
through minor amendments.
However, till date the ministers of the
government have not been able to answer why the laws which are being
described as being of peasant interest, when the farmers are not
considering them as their own interests, then why are they being forced
to enforce them.
Seeing no solution even after the Bharat Bandh,
agitating farmers said on Thursday that if their demands were not met,
they would block the rail tracks and announce the date soon.
Talking
to the media on the Singhu border, the farmers unions said that they
would intensify the protests and start jamming all the highways leading
to the national capital. Significantly, after being prevented from
entering Delhi, farmers have been staging a sit-in at the Singhu border
for the last two weeks.
At the press conference on the border, farmer
leader Buta Singh said, "If our demands are not met then we will block
the rail tracks." We will fix the date and announce it soon. "
Another
farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said, "The Center has accepted that
laws are made for traders. If agriculture is a state subject, the Center
does not have the right to legislate on it. "
Thousands of farmers
have been protesting at various borders in Delhi demanding withdrawal of
new agricultural laws and maintaining minimum support price system for
crops.
Earlier today, it was announced that 'Delhi Chalo' has been
called on December 14 for all farmers of North India, while farmers
living in South India have been asked to perform at district
headquarters.
Farmer leaders said that on December 14, they would gherao BJP ministers, party district offices and boycott party leaders.
Farmer
leader Shiv Kumar Kakka said that if the three agricultural laws are
not repealed, the farmers will stop all the roads coming towards Delhi
one by one. He said that there is no disagreement among farmer
organizations, as a section of the media (differences) is showing.
He
said, "We took a unanimous decision. It is a unanimous decision, not a
majority ... It cannot be that some people agree on it, some people do
not. If all the organizations said that the law should be withdrawn,
then it is our decision ... There is no question of personal opinion. "
Farmer leader Jangveer Singh said, "We will boycott establishments and services owned by Adani and Ambani."
Farmers should leave the movement and adopt the path of dialogue: Tomar
On
the other hand, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on
Thursday that farmers protesting against the agricultural laws should
leave the movement and take the path of dialogue. He said that if the
farmers have any objection to any issue of the proposal sent by the
government, then the government is ready to discuss it with an "open
mind".
Tomar also said in a joint press conference with Union
Minister Piyush Goyal that it is not appropriate to announce the next
phase of agitation by farmers in the middle of the process of
negotiations. He said that the government is fully ready for talks. He
hoped that some way will come out through talks.
