In the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, online education is being imparted to the students of the municipal schools in Mumbai. However, with a view to start physical schools in the future, the Central Government has formulated ‘SOPs’ in this regard.
It is also important to create awareness among the teachers about the precautions to be taken and the guidance to be given to the students and their parents related to Covid prevention.
With this in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently started a program to train teachers in Municipal schools.
AIR Correspondent reports, more than 10,000 teachers are working in more than 1100 schools of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to impart education to more than 2,50,000 students studying in these schools.
Although due to Covid-19 pandemic, students are currently being taught online in all municipal schools, students, teachers and parents need to be aware of the covid preventive measures before the physical school starts in the near future.
With this is in mind the BMC recently launched a program wherein 150 selected teachers of these municipal schools will be trained as ‘trainers’.
During this 5-day training program, only 30 teachers are being trained every day in a hall with a capacity of 120 persons, in order to ensure proper physical distancing.
These trained teachers will then train other teachers in their schools and also teachers in nearby municipal schools.
The training program mainly covers safe schools, preventive measures related to Covid, care to be taken by the teachers, guidance to the students and parents from time to time.
Municipal Education Officer Mahesh Palkar said that after this, it is proposed to impart training to the teachers of private-primary schools in the same manner.
