The Central Government has notified appointment of Bombay High Court's Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta as Supreme Court Judge.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his elevation in its meeting dated 26th September.
Recently, the Top Court has9 wrangled with the Centre over issue of non-clearance of name recommended by the Collegium.
In a clear message, the Top Court stated that holding of names will halt the judiciary's functioning.
The Central Government appeared to have take a note of the same with names previously being recommended getting notified gradually.
Justice Dutta has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court in April 2020.
